Petra Place and the buildings comprising Petra Place Condominiums were built back in 1963 as a prosperous apartment community. In the 1970’s and 1980’s the residents largely consisted of UW professors and downtown professionals. During that time period, the neighborhood was the new best thing Madison had to offer. After years of property neglect and some neighborhood resident decline, Petra Place became the forgotten thriving community it once was. Around about 2000 a fast talking apartment manager came along seeing the forgotten potential and began buying and assembling the property to convert into condominiums. Petra Place Condominium Association was established consisting of 9 buildings totaling 72 units, spanning Petra Place cul de sac. The developer was successful until bad business decisions led to his demise, but the ideals of Petra Place Condominiums continued on.
Petra Living was established to take over and continue the development of Petra Place Condominiums. The conversion of apartments into affordable condominiums offered the opportunity to take an old building, renovate, and offer basically a new condo at an unheard of price. It was also a great opportunity to become involved in the South Madison community as a responsible business member, leading the revitalization efforts of the area.
The developer of Petra Living Condominiums, Jared Jambois is very active in the Petra Place Condominium Association, Burr Oaks Neighborhood, and active member of the Madison business community. He is the current appointed board member of the South Metropolitan Planning Council representing the Burr Oaks Neighborhood Association. He is also a member of the South Central Wisconsin Apartment Association, South Madison Business Association, and Park Street Partners member. He regularly attends meetings and provides input on the Villager Mall Redevelopment, South Madison Responsible Landlords, and South Madison Police Department issues, amongst others.
To provide high quality housing at an affordable price, that is environmentally responsible and sustainable.
